We are delighted to announce that Professor Michael Cosmopoulos, the Hellenic Government-Karakas Foundation Chair of Greek Studies and Professor of Archaeology at the University of Missouri - St. Louis, has accepted our invitation to serve as the Biggs Family Resident in Classics in 2028. Professor Cosmopoulos is a renowned scholar of archaeology and history of Ancient Greece. He has led excavations in Iklaina, Eleusis, and Oropos and has published widely on Archaic Greece, most recently in The World of Homer. Archaeology, Social Memory, and the Emergence of Greek Epic Poetry (Cambridge University Press, 2025). His visit promises to bring extraordinary insight into the material and historical culture of the Greek world. We look forward to welcoming him to Washington University in St. Louis.
