On September 23rd, WashU students, faculty, and staff joined with people from the St. Louis community for a spirited discussion of Christopher Nolan's film adaptation of Homer's epic, The Odyssey. The discussion took place before a large, engaged audience and began with three short presentations by WashU faculty, each with their own areas of expertise: Kate Wilson of Classics, Rebecca Wanzo of American Culture Studies, and Colin Burnett of Film and Media Studies. The event showcased the breadth of WashU's faculty and how meaningful discussion can arise between three very different disciplines when they meet at the very same crossroads where ancient and modern come together.
