The John and Penelope Biggs Department of Classics is proud to share the 2026 edition of Ursus, our annual newsletter celebrating the people, programs, and progress that define our community. This year’s issue highlights the generous support of our donors. With their support we’ve expanded opportunities for student travel, research, and public engagement, helping Classics thrive both on campus and beyond.
Inside, readers will find updates on recent events, alumni achievements, and faculty scholarship, along with a look ahead at upcoming lectures and initiatives. Whether you're a longtime supporter or a new friend of the department, Ursus 2026 offers a glimpse into the dynamic world of Classical Studies at Washington University.
