Professor Timothy Moore recently delivered two lectures at the annual summer school of the Thesaurus Linguae Latinae (TLL) in Munich, Germany. In his first presentation, “A Tale of Five Databases,” Moore discussed digital humanities projects he has developed in collaboration with WashU Libraries, the Humanities Digital Workshop, and more than 30 WashU undergraduate and graduate students. These projects focus on Greek and Roman dramatic meter, images of ancient music, and recordings of Latin and Greek. 

In a second lecture, “Latin Lexicography and Roman Music,” Moore explored how research on Latin vocabulary has informed his scholarship on the music of Roman theater. While attending the summer school, he also collaborated with fellow participants and TLL editors in drafting a dictionary article for the Latin word salebra. 

The Thesaurus Linguae Latinae is the world’s most comprehensive dictionary of Latin.
