Lucas Caswell Awarded Kling Fellowship

The John and Penelope Biggs Department of Classics congratulates Lucas Caswell, a double major in Political Science and Classics, on his recent academic and service accomplishments, including his selection as a Merle Kling Undergraduate Honors Fellow.

As a Kling Fellow, Lucas will pursue a research project on the reception of classical political theory among the American Founding Fathers, using digital humanities methods to trace how ancient Greek and Roman ideas shaped early modern political thought. His interdisciplinary work reflects the strengths of his dual training in Classics and Political Science and highlights the continued relevance of classical texts in understanding modern political systems.

In addition to the Kling Fellowship, Lucas has also been honored with the Swim Across America Service Award from the College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America, recognizing his commitment to service beyond his academic work.

The department congratulates Lucas on these well‑deserved honors and looks forward to seeing his research develop.
